The Videographer
A little bit about me, Gordon Buchanan the Videographer/Editor
Hi Just to give you a bit of info on my background and how this journey begun, I started up Struie Media back in 2008, originally as a small recording studio. My vision at the time was to offer musicians and bands more than just an audio recording—by filming their sessions, I could give them something else tangible to take away and share.
Everything shifted when I filmed a wedding video as a favour for friends which was the most nerve racking experience for me. I never realised how much pressure would be on me and how stressful it would be just hoping to get it right with no prospect of retakes or rehearsals for each 'scene' I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but the response was incredible—not just from them, but from their family and friends. From that response and also from my own family and work colleagues who had already seen some short films I had produced encouraged me to pursue this professionally. Taking their advice, I decided to give it a shot, and the journey since has been amazing. and also winning 3 wedding industry awards along the way.
I quickly realized that storytelling through the media of film was my strength, capturing the emotion and essence of a moment, whether through weddings, events, or commercial work. Sixteen years later, I’m busier than ever, constantly learning and evolving to tell stories in new and creative ways and embracing and investing in the latest technology.

When filming weddings, I use a multi-camera setup paired with studio grade audio recording equipment to ensure close sounding high clarity. Throughout the day a handheld camera rig is used to capture those spontaneous, fleeting moments that make each wedding unique. This approach allows me to stay versatile and responsive, ensuring every detail contributes to the overall story of the finished video.

No matter how busy I am or how many bookings I have, my passion for delivering the best to each couple never fades. Hearing from couples about how much they love their wedding films is a constant reminder of why I do what I do. That sense of satisfaction and connection is what makes this work so rewarding. I've been fortunate to have worked at many of the prestigious wedding venues and Castles mainly in the Scottish Highlands.
