The Videographer
A little bit about me, Gordon Buchanan the Videographer/Editor
To give you a bit of background on how this journey began, I started Struie Media back in 2008, originally as a small recording studio. At the time, my aim was to offer musicians and bands more than just an audio recording. By filming their sessions, I could provide them with something additional—visual content they could take away, share, and promote their work with.

Everything changed when I filmed a wedding video as a favour for friends. It was, without doubt, the most nerve-racking experience I’d had behind a camera. I quickly realised the pressure involved—there are no retakes, no rehearsals, and every moment happens only once. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but the response was incredible. Not only did the couple love it, but so did their family and friends. Encouragement from them, along with support from my own family and work colleagues who had already seen some short films I’d produced, pushed me to pursue wedding filmmaking professionally. I took their advice, gave it a shot, and the journey since has been amazing—along the way, I’ve been honoured to win three wedding industry awards.

I soon discovered that storytelling through film was my real strength. Capturing emotion and the true essence of a moment—whether at weddings, events, or in commercial projects—became the heart of what I do. Sixteen years on, I’m busier than ever, continually learning, evolving, and investing in the latest technology to tell stories in fresh and creative ways
.
When filming weddings, I use a multi-camera setup alongside studio-grade audio recording equipment to ensure clear, high-quality sound. Throughout the day, a handheld camera rig allows me to capture those spontaneous, fleeting moments that make each wedding truly unique. This flexible approach ensures every detail plays its part in the overall story of the finished film.

No matter how busy I am or how many bookings I have, my passion for delivering the very best for each couple never fades. Hearing how much couples love their wedding films is a constant reminder of why I do what I do. That connection and sense of satisfaction are what make this work so rewarding. I’ve also been fortunate to film at many prestigious wedding venues and castles, primarily throughout the Scottish Highlands.
