SCALE
Consider that the comparison of a modern widescreen TV screen ie. 55” screen. Any image upscaled to play on a much larger screen than originally made for will not look great. The transfer process will not miraculously improve the original footage, after all tapes are likely to be at least 20 or 30 years old, maybe even 60+ year old cine film. The following diagram illustrates how small the DVD (PAL DV) Cine film is much smaller still. This is to illustrate and put it in perspective.
